# Camtasia

Screen recorder and video editor for Windows and macOS, sold as yearly plans that bundle Snagit, captions and AI tools.

65 points out of 100. #5 of 9 screen recorders. Vendor: TechSmith Corporation. Website: https://www.techsmith.com/camtasia/

- Plans are yearly only: Starter €39.56, Essentials €182.49, Create €252.62 and Pro €607.71 a year [1].
- Starter's Camtasia Editor exports carry a watermark; Essentials and up export without one [1][3].
- Records screen, microphone, system audio and webcam on separate tracks [2].
- Every plan lists unlimited 4K/60fps recordings and up to 25 videos on Screencast [1].
- Automatic captions and speech-to-text transcription start with Essentials [1].

Verdict: Camtasia suits people who make tutorials and training videos and want recording, a multitrack editor and captions in one place [1][2]. It records screen, webcam, microphone and system audio at up to 4K [1][2]. The catch is price: the cheap Starter plan watermarks Camtasia Editor exports, so clean editing starts at €182.49 a year, and there is no Linux version [1][3]. Best for: People who record tutorials and training videos and edit them in the same app.
